Black Autumn Travelers Book 2 by Jeff Kirkham & Jason Ross

Believable and Disturbing because you know what people are like.

Well, they finally did it! Muslim extremists manage to get a nuclear devise to the coast of America. That and the crash of the Stock Market pitch America and the world into chaos. We follow three story lines during the disintegration of everything normal.

Cameron will do everything to help his family escape the coming fall out in California including killing anyone who threatens his own. But what will it cost him?
Sage has been prepared by his family to survive but must learn what is important and what needs to be left behind.

Mat has seen multiple tours of the Middle East conflicts, but wants to put it behind him as he parties and screws his way through all the years he missed. When the world falls apart, he falls for a gorgeous college girl who needs to find her family at all costs.

The story has a real feeling of authenticity. With one of the authors being a retired Special Forces veteran, there is a huge amount of background knowledge. Certainly the training he has had, dealt with these types of scenarios.

I was given an advance reading copy. This is my personal, honest review.

Surviving Stutthof by Liisa Kovala

This is is an important piece of history that the author was fortunate to save. The author tells the story of her father, then only a teen from Finland who, along with the entire crew of a merchant ship was captured by the Germans during the Second World War. Refusing to join the German military machine, they sent the entire crew to the Stutthof concentration camp. Hard labor under brutal conditions and lack of food was a daily event, but the horror of what their captors brought to situation stayed with the young man for his entire life.

The perseverance and will to live shows the absolute best in the human spirit and should be remembered for all time. Truly inspiring.

The 2019 Guide to Manuscript Publishers by Emily Harstone

No agent necessary!

Everything an author needs to submitting to traditional publishing houses without an agent. These publishing houses are looking for great stories and do not discriminate those authors that are not represented.

Once again, Authors Publishing produces a great guide for authors.

La Brigantessa by Rosanna Micelotta Battigelli

This is a beautifully written story about a turbulent time in Italy’s past. It is the time of Unification. Rather than a collection of providences and city states, they have pulled together Italy into the country we know today. Bu there is a glaring difference from the Southern peasants to the Northern aristocrats. To build this fledging nation, they have levied taxes across the country with no regard to social class. Further, there is an extreme difference in justice between the rich and poor.

The story centers on Gabrielle, who is assaulted by a landowner and must go in hiding when she defends herself. She ends up with a group of thieves and finds honor and nobility has nothing to do with wealth or position.

The author brings her culture and knowledge of the Calabria society to create an authentic and heart-rendering tale of turmoil, faith and hope in a time of fear. The pages turn themselves as you cheer on this innocent heroine.
