The Woods by Harlan Coben

Paul Copeland, a prosecutor, lost his sister years ago when she disappeared into the woods. Now, while working on a major court case, evidence surfaces when a murdered man who was last seen with his sister is identified. He was suspected of having died with his sister. Challenged from multiple issues, Copeland battles to solve the mystery that has haunted him since his teens.

Coben is another new author for me. I will not hesitate to grab another of his in the future. Lots of twists and turns in this suspenseful story.

Code of Honor by Alan Gratz

An American Iranian teen’s life is destroyed when his brother, an Army Ranger, seems to have turned his back on America and joined a terrorist group. But as events unfold, Kamran Smith finds subtle hints in videos featuring his brother. Those hints draw on a childhood story that the brother once shared, but no one believes him.

Imprisoned by the CIA and interrogated for weeks, he is sprung and joins a rogue team of anti-terrorists who believe his story. They begin a race against time to stop a massive attack on American soil and save Kamran’s brother.

Extremely fast-past story, with tons of suspense, betrayal, and action to keep any thriller fan awake for hours.
