Book Review: One Good Deed by David Baldacci

Gripping Who-Done-It!

Baldacci dishes up a great mystery story. Set after World War II, we meet Aloysius Archer. Scarred by the fighting in Europe, he’s released from prison for a crime he did not commit. Ordered to serve his parole in Poca City, he is offered a large amount of money to retrieve a car that was used for collateral for a defaulted loan. When bodies start dropping, Archer becomes the prime suspect and may face the rope.

There are more games being played in the darkness of this rough city. Archer cannot trust anyone to help him find the real culprit. And he’s running out of time. Not until the last chapter is the villain revealed and there was no hint. Great fun.

Colton Lang by Randall Moore

A Knock Out!

Colton Lang was a contender in the boxing ring until criminals needed him to take a fall. Since that time he has become a private detective helping find lost family members and protect others. When several cases become related, life becomes perilous for the former boxer.

This is a fast moving, hard-hitting thriller. Hoping to see more installments of this new hero.

Review of Nobilis #1: Seedling by Stephen Coghlan

Space Pirates Galore

When an ancient being is awakened on a space station, space pirates zero in to capture it for its strange and magnificent powers. Kalle Aaron, the head maintenance technician on the station pulls the survivors together in a desperate race to escape the vicious predators. Kalle has many secrets and each of the crew brings specialized skills to the fight.

The story moves like the speed of light, from one danger to another.

This crew of strangers must learn about loyalty, trust and sacrifice to overcome the enemy. The pages fly under Mr. Coghlan’s expert guidance in this strange and dangerous galaxy. I look forward to other installments to this story.

Buckle up for this rollercoaster ride.

Flying without Wings by Paula Wyn

This story was brimming with suspense and vicious violence.

From the ghastly Nazi concentration camps we see the true evil and greed of the Third Reich. Even knowing that they are losing, the perpetrators of the mass murdering of the Jewish people try to hide away their stolen wealth across Europe.

The story jumps between the past and to rural England in the 1980s where all the secrecy, pain and greed come to a head.

I highly recommend this story for those WW II lovers that love a tale that keeps you at the edge of your seat the whole time.
