Shadows of Hemlock by K.M. Pohlkamp

More toxic than ever before!

K.M. Pohlkamp returns with the sequel to her award-winning story Apricots and Wolfsbane. Having devised the demise of her mentor, Aselin Gavrell is ready to take over the mantel of Master Poison Assassin. She will have to challenge the most devious and power hungry aristocrats that England offers as everyone wants her services but will sacrifice her to move the game in their favor. While dodging these dangerous nobles, she will also have to find a cure for the poison, Hemlock to prove to the Guild of Assassins that she is worthy of the title.

Be ready to be transported to time where all work and suffer for the rich and the law protects those who control the purse strings. The historical detail dumps you into the dungeons and lifts you to the splendor of the 16th century nobility.

Just don't drink the wine!

Book Review: The Call of Death by R. J Garcia

Imagine waking up in a hospital room in the future, knowing the name of a serial killer who has killed those close to you. Then waking up to find that your dreams might help you change the fate of you, your friends and the killer.

Sounds wickedly scary.

This is the basis of The Call of Death. Hannah is a rich American going to school in England. She’s had trouble fitting in, but has gained a few good friends. As the dreams become more and more vivid, Hannah and her friends must face a nightmare killer that seems to escape any trap.

I enjoyed the suspense and danger throughout the story. The story flies off the pages but you need to know one thing before beginning this crazy-ass story. Make sure you turn on all the lights in your home. And lock the door.

Indefensible: A Kate Lange Thriller by Pamela Callow

Exciting climax!

This time, Kate must defend her boss, Randall Barrett, who is charged with the murder of his ex-wife, all while a sinister stranger watches from the shadows.

The story picks up right after DAMAGED, the first book in the series. I found that it took a long time for the story to get moving as the first part of the book was mostly review and reflection from the first novel. Once the story opened up, it moved at a fast and suspenseful pace, similar to the first book.
