Copper River (Cork O'Connor #6) by William Kent Krueger
Cork O’Conner is hiding out with a bullet injury while hitmen hunt for him. With a Chicago mobster believing Cork had killed his son, Cork must wait until the police investigation clears him and finds the real killer. But danger finds Cork, even in the backwoods of Michigan’s upper Peninsula.
His nephew
and friends see a body in the river and when a girl’s body if found in Lake
Michigan, shadowy figures are hunting down the young teens. Cork and his
protector, Dina, must protect the children while revealing what these men are
after.
Another
fast-past, beautifully written thriller. It follows the story first told in
Mercy Falls. It is practically a sequel, but only to give the other story time
to resolve itself. This story basically stands by itself. Krueger still
delivers a top-notch suspense thriller.
